With a background in Christian higher education and entrepreneurship, Stephanie is passionate about the intersection of faith, culture, and innovation. During the start of the pandemic in April 2020, she had a casual conversation with Andrew discussing how the disruption of COVID was affecting churches. They decided to start interviewing and listening to faith community leaders.
The phrase they heard repeatedly: “we can do live-stream, but live-stream is a one-way broadcast.” Pastors, priests, and faith leaders could get sermons, services, and devotionals online, but struggled to find ways to be present with their people. Online engagement is measured in likes, shares, comments, and views, but real human engagement is about transformative relationships. “Is there a way,” they asked, “to not just do services online - but be a community online?”
We know technology.
As technology entrepreneurs, Andrew and Pavel have launched over 40 mobile and web apps used by millions of people every day. Following a successful acquisition exit, they started a new software company that brought together an exceptional team of designers and developers. For the last few years, they've been building technology platforms to help established North American brands be more efficient and engage their customers in meaningful ways.
We started Altar Live.
In June 2020, we formed our team. Alongside faith community partners, we began to build a worship and event platform designed for real human-to-human interaction. Every feature has been designed with real people, ministries, and communities in mind.
We are excited to be a technology partner for faith communities all over the world, through this season of disruption and beyond!
